Quebec Skilled Worker

YMCA Award

Under the Canada-Quebec Accord on Immigration, Quebec establishes its own immigration requirements and selects immigrants who will adapt well to living in Quebec.

Living in Québec means living in a democratic francophone society offering many advantages:

  • Low cost of living;
  • Accessible education and health services;
  • Spacious and affordable housing;
  • Secure living environment and
  • An environment full of cultural attractions.
  • The Province of Quebec is the largest Canadian province in size and is second after Ontario in population.

THE IMMIGRATION PROCESS

To come to Canada as a Quebec Skilled Worker, you must first apply to the Quebec government for a Certificat de Sélection du Québec (CSQ). After having been selected by Quebec, you have to make a separate application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for permanent residence.

A Visa Officer will assess your application based on Canadian immigration regulations. However, it should be noted that Quebec Skilled Workers are not assessed on the six selection factors as in case of the federal skilled workers program.

To be selected as an immigrant worker, you must have the schooling and occupational skills to facilitate your job integration. Other factors, such as language, age, your spouse's profile and whether or not you have children are also important.
